RECOVERY PARTNERS SERVICES:
The Federal Government requires every hospital to participate in the organ and tissue donation process through the Medicare Hospitals Conditions of Participation. Through LifeLink's GRAFTS program, LifeLink provides fully integrated and customized services to Recovery Partners allowing them to better serve the needs of hospitals in their service areas. GRAFTS is a continually evolving system built on the foundation of the elements of the Good Tissue Practices.
- The LifeLink GRAFTS program provides our Recovery Partners and our internal divisions with a comprehensive quality framework on which to build a strong relationship with all areas of the Foundation and to develop and grow strong, healthy recovery programs.
- Our Recovery Partners can select from all the services provided by LifeLink.
Some of the services available to partners include:
Tissue screening service
LifeLink's screening staff responds to calls that pass the first stage of triage and also screens potential donors for the Recovery Partners.
GTP compliant recovery process
LifeLink has established recovery procedures to prevent circumstances that increase the risk of introduction, transmission, or spread of communicable diseases through the use of human cellular tissue based products. (HCT/P’s)
LifeLink utilizes zoning and sequencing techniques for the recovery of tissue and developed a documentation system that is fully aligned with the technical procedure. This system is used by all of LifeLink’s Recovery Partners.
Technical training and education
All staff involved in activities related to core GTP requirements complete a program of technical training related to their specific role in the manufacturing of HCT/P’s. LifeLink staff can provide this training for Recovery Partners at the Tissue Bank in Tampa or at any of the Partner's locations.
Validated supplies and equipment
LifeLink's Materials Management Department has established an approved vendor list for the purposes of ordering supplies and reagents used in each step of the recovery and processing of HCT/P’s. LifeLink performs the vendor verification and can provide the Recovery Partner with order forms and all supportive documentation required. LifeLink also can assist the Partner in establishing a system to track supplies, from the initial ordering, through receipt and storage. LifeLink will share all GTP-required records with our Partners.
GTP compliant lab services
LifeLink operates a CLIA certified and CAP accredited in-house microbiology lab. All procurement and processing cultures are processed in this lab. Infectious disease testing is performed by Labcorp. LifeLink accepts results only from a CLIA certified/FDA registered lab.
Quality Assurance
LifeLink Tissue Bank has a comprehensive Quality Assurance Program that monitors all of LifeLink’s tissue activities, including the recovery activities of our Partners. Each Recovery Partner is assigned a dedicated QA coordinator who works directly with the Recovery Partner to ensure all required standards are met. Feedback reports are shared with the Partner on a quarterly basis or sooner if required.
Hospital Services
The LifeLink Hospital Services Department oversees the distribution of allograft’s into the partner service area and works with hospitals and end users to promote the relationship between LifeLink and the local recovery program.
Reports
LifeLink provides a basic report regarding donor rates, graft yield and discard reasons on a regular basis. Additional information that is collected throughout the recovery and processing of HCT/P’s also is reported to help the Partner evaluate the effectiveness of their recovery efforts.
As the GRAFTS program provides these enhanced benefits, it also serves as the conduit for information exchange between LifeLink and our Tissue Recovery Partners.
